Acceptance of Terms

By making an enquiry, booking, or visiting Saranto Camp, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full. These terms apply to all guests, day visitors, and group bookings. If you do not accept these terms, please do not proceed with a booking.

Bookings & Reservations

All bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed only upon receipt of a deposit as specified in your booking confirmation. Saranto Camp reserves the right to decline any booking at our discretion. Your booking is personal to you and may not be transferred to a third party without prior written consent.

Deposit & Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total booking value is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to arrival. For bookings made within 30 days of the arrival date, full payment is required at the time of booking. Payments may be made via M-Pesa, bank transfer, or other methods agreed upon in writing. All prices are quoted in Kenyan Shillings (KES) unless otherwise stated.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

• More than 30 days before arrival: Deposit forfeited; balance refunded in full.
• 15–30 days before arrival: 50% of total booking value is forfeited.
• Less than 15 days before arrival: 100% of total booking value is forfeited.
• No-show: 100% of total booking value is forfeited.

Saranto Camp strongly recommends that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes cancellation cover.

Modifications by Saranto Camp

Saranto Camp operates in a remote wilderness environment. In the event of circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including but not limited to extreme weather, security advisories, community events, or natural events — we reserve the right to modify or cancel a booking. In such cases, we will offer an alternative date or a full refund of monies paid. We accept no further liability in such circumstances.

Arrival, Departure & Camp Rules

Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 11:00 on the day of departure, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner respectful of the natural environment, local wildlife, and the Samburu community. Any guest causing damage, disturbance, or acting in breach of these terms may be asked to leave without refund.

Wilderness & Adventure Activities

Saranto Camp offers guided activities including the Ololokwe Summit Ascent, rock scrambling, bush walks, and night sky experiences. All activities are undertaken voluntarily and at the guest's own risk. Guests must disclose any relevant medical conditions, physical limitations, or allergies prior to participation. Saranto Camp, its guides, and staff accept no liability for injury, illness, loss, or death arising from participation in activities, except where caused by our proven gross negligence.

Health, Safety & Insurance

Saranto Camp is located in a remote area at approximately 1,800m above sea level. Guests should be in good general health and aware of the physical demands of their planned activities. We strongly advise all guests to hold valid travel and medical evacuation insurance before arrival. Emergency medical facilities are limited in the area; guests with pre-existing conditions should consult a physician before travelling.

Environmental Responsibility

Saranto Camp operates as an eco-camp on Losesia community land. All guests are expected to respect the leave-no-trace principle. Open fires outside designated areas, littering, interference with wildlife, removal of plants or rocks, and any activity that damages the natural environment are strictly prohibited. Guests who breach this obligation may be held liable for remediation costs.

Photography & Privacy

Guests are welcome to photograph the landscape and wildlife for personal use. Photography of community members, cultural ceremonies, or the local Samburu community requires the explicit prior consent of those being photographed. Commercial use of any images taken at Saranto Camp requires written permission from camp management. Saranto Camp may photograph the camp and its landscape for promotional purposes; guests will not be photographed without consent.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, Saranto Camp shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage arising from a guest's stay, including loss of personal property, theft, or damage to vehicles. The total liability of Saranto Camp shall not exceed the amount paid by the guest for the relevant booking.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or relating to a booking or stay at Saranto Camp shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts.
